Description
Tender slices of red potatoes layered with a creamy, cheesy sauce and baked to golden perfection. This comforting side dish pairs beautifully with holiday meals, Sunday dinners, or any time you want a little extra indulgence on your plate.
Ingredients
2 ½ lbs red potatoes, thinly sliced (skin on for rustic texture)
3 tbsp unsalted butter
3 tbsp all-purpose flour
2 cups whole milk (warm)
1 cup heavy cream
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (divided)
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp paprika
Salt & pepper to taste
Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
Prep the Potatoes
Wash and thinly slice red potatoes (about ⅛-inch thick).
Preheat oven to 375°F and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
Make the Cheese Sauce
In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.
Whisk in flour and cook for 1 minute to form a roux.
Slowly whisk in warm milk and cream until smooth.
Add garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
Stir in 1 ½ cups cheddar, mozzarella, and Parmesan until melted.
Assemble the Dish
Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the baking dish.
Pour half of the cheese sauce over the potatoes.
Repeat with remaining potatoes and sauce.
Sprinkle remaining cheddar cheese on top.
Bake
Cover with foil and bake for 40 minutes.
Remove foil and bake an additional 20 minutes, until golden and bubbly.
Serve
Garnish with fresh parsley.
Serve hot as a side to your favorite main dish.
